As a group or two-by-two, members of the Amiwa team are constantly trekking the trails of Yunnan and its surrounding regions. We never tire of the classic CangShan – a 40-km-long range with 19 summits, including the Malong (4122 metres) and the famous YuJu – or of Haba Mountain, located a few hours from Leaping Tiger Gorge.
The area around Shaxi, the beautifully restored village (a significant achievement in China) that is home to the second largest population of Bai people after Dali, is also a well-trod path for the Amiwa team.
Trekking conditions and access to various trails are very different if you are joining us for exploratory scouting or on a trek we have mapped out for you. While this is a great opportunity to take off on a low-cost adventure with a professional team, we stick to a quick pace for these much needed reconnaissance expeditions. But rest assured: if you are in good physical condition and have the basic supplies, satisfaction is practically guaranteed!

We will also be heading off toward the Valley of the Three Parallel Rivers sometime in April...
...unless our feet lead us toward Qinghai Province. No harm in leaving our verdant Yunnan just this once for the Tibetan plateau of Qinghai, to be explored together with local hikers...
